ABOUT

Elisa Insalata was born in Turin, Italy. At the early stages of her dance education she studied ballet at Studio Danza Narcisa and later at Liceo Coreutico Teatro Nuovo Torino. At age 15, she became a student of the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany, where she graduated 3 years later. During this time she got the chance to dance at the AI09 of the Canadian National Ballet School in Toronto, participated in numerous performances of the Stuttgart Ballet and performed pieces of choreographers such as Hans Van Manen and Eric Gauthier, which choreographed on her and some fellow students. After graduation, she joined the professional program of the Ecole Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower, France, where she later became a member of the Cannes Jeune Ballet. Here she studied more styles and techniques, especially more contemporary dance with great teachers such as Monet Robier, daughter of Rosella Hightower. She also got to perform all around France and Italy and choreographed her very first piece. She later joined Eko Dance Project of Pompea Santoro, in Turin, where she learned and danced extracts of Mats Ek's repertoire and got to choreograph again. In 2014, she was hired by Theater Hof, Germany, as a member of the ballet company. In the 5 years she worked in Hof, she danced in many operas, operettas, musicals and ballets, often in solistic roles and as principal role in the "Sacre du Printemps" of Stravinsky, choreographed by director Barbara Buser. Here she also developed her choreographic style by creating new pieces each year for the company. In 2019, she joined Székesfehérvári Ballet Színház as a soloist dancer. In this company she danced many contemporary pieces mainly by Attila Egerházi and also "Whim" by Alexander Ekman. In her second season with the company, she also became assistant/ballet master and choreographed for the dancers.
Since 2021 she is a freelance dancer, choreographer and ballet master based in Budapest, where she worked and works mostly with companies like Gangaray Dance Company, Badora Dance Company, Pr-Evolution Dance Company.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Elisa's ballet classes are specially designed for pre-professional and professional contemporary dancers. Next to aiming to develop the technique, she uses ballet as a form of dancing itself. Her goal is for young dancers to learn to approach it in a different way and understand how to unlock the body's potential from the very beginning of the day, by activating every single muscle with precision. She particularly focuses on large movements, musical precision, fluidity and dynamic versatility, to get the dancers ready for whatever repertoire they will learn and dance.
